7Bs - 18th / 19th May

The place to announce the standard club ride. This will usally be early on a Saturday morning on road bikes and will be around 35 miles or so. There will often be a hill or two.

7Bs - 18th / 19th May

Post by MarkG » Tue Mar 26, 2019 8:34 am

If you were following the Whats App group a few weeks ago we conceived the idea of upgrading the traditional 4Bs (Berrylands, Brighton, Breakfast & Back) ride to 7Bs (Berrylands, Brighton, Breakfast, Bembridge, Bed, Breakfast & Back).

The plan is to leave at the usual time (5:30am) to get down to Brighton for breakfast. Then cycle along the south coast to get over to the Isle of Wight and cycle over to Bembridge for the night. A few beers and dinner and then a lap of the island the following day and then home. This last bit being cycling or train depending on how people are feeling.

If you are planning on coming along on the ride and staying over you will need to start making some preparations. James C is putting up 7 people in his house in Bembridge (I assume the 7 of you know who you are) and Tim V and I have booked a B&B nearby. When I last looked accommodation was in the immediate area was a bit limited but as we will all have bikes it doesn’t really matter if it is a short distance away. If you are planning on coming and want to stay the night you will need to sort out some accommodation.

Rough distances (not guaranteed)

1. Berrylands to Brighton – 55 miles
2. Brighton to Bembridge – 65 miles
3. Round the Island – 60 miles
4. Bembridge to Berrylands – 85 miles

Your options are

1. 4Bs (traditional day ride with train or cycle back)
2. 7Bs (two day ride)

If you are coming for the 7Bs can you let us know as we will need to probably book somewhere for dinner.

Am in for the lot - accommodation sorted

I might also note that the title is missing one very important "B", as in Beer ;)

Have gone completely overboard with cycling trips this year so this will be a one day event for me, will definitely join you for the Brighton and breakfast leg and maybe some of the ride along the coast before heading home.

Mark and I have booked a 3-bed cottage across the road from the pub, so there's room for two others, if anyone is interested.

£65 each including breakfast in the pub. Unfortunately there's no discount if you just collapse in the pub until breakfast.
